Def Jam Rapstar and Konami Game night!

April brought a huge announcement for Def Jam Rapstar ! The annoucement of the Konami partnership followed up with a demo at Konami Game Night has officially put Rapstar on every body’s radar!

Konami Gamer night was the perfect event to showcase Rapstar! The venue was similar to an auditoriums layout, an oval shaped first floor and a main stage with a smaller second floor that boasted balconies overlooking the stage.

The night featured some two-hundred gaming journalists who were not only treated to a sneak peak of Konami’s 2010 lineup, but also a fully catered and open bar extravaganza. Once all the journalists had arrived and grabbed an adult beverage of their choice, they took their seats to take in the show!

Rapstar was the first game to be presented, Kevin Liles and Jamie King both gave inspiring and colorful narratives about the concept and direction of Rapstar that left the audience only wanting more. The finale of the stage presentation was a rap battle to “Nuthin but a G’ Thang” between Jamie King and Jeff Gerstmann from Giant Bomb, this caused the entire audience to applaud and rap in their seats.

The complete stage presentation of all the titles took nearly two hours, and the crowd was beginning to get restless near the end. Immediately following the last game stage demo, the floor was cleared and the bar re-opened. Plenty of diverse and interesting titles were present; all with the exception of Rapstar were on the second floor, the setup similar to a mini E3 showfloor. Rapstar had two stations in the downstairs area complete with a red carpet photo area and couches to lounge on while being served shots of Patron.

The event itself was originally scheduled to wrap up no later than 11:00 PM, but due to everyone playing or waiting in line for another go round with Dr. Dre, it went straight up until bar closing hours. Since that evening Rapstar has been on nearly every major gaming and music site this week alone, the reviews on a vast majority are fantastic as well. Great job to everyone who’s worked so hard on this game. There was no doubt in anyone’s mind who attended the event, that TRI had another home run with Def Jam Rapstar!
