E3 Stars

E3e

Writing about E3 seems to get more difficult with every passing year, simply for the fact that it grows more incredible and harder to describe with mere words or pictures. This year’s event is the perfect example, after struggling to figure out how I was going to put into words what E3 was to TRI, one word popped into my head that made it all clear…. STARS! That’s exactly what we are working on and with everyday. TRI titles, Def Jam Rapstar and a one-of-a-kind Star Wars game for Kinect for Xbox 360 are both games centered on themes using the word ‘star.’

E3 2010 was the first time that Rapstar was available to be played by the public in the USA (it has been seen once before at Gamescom 2009) and it was hit! From the moment the doors opened, eager attendees swarmed the Konami booth for a chance to channel their inner Tupac. The area of the Konami booth slated for the Rapstar demo felt like you were walking onto the set of a recording studio or concert venue. Two sound booths, plus a stage compete with lights, cameras, and of course action!!! Throughout the next two days of the show, the line for a chance to rap your heart out only grew even longer when word spread that Method Man and Redman would be performing on the Rapstar stage. The performance itself was more than anyone was prepared for, the show was spectacular and had people pouring in like a monsoon. The 30-minute show stretched well into 50 minutes and then was only halted in the interest of being professional to our booth neighbors as the crowd had then grown to encompass their area as well.

Top all of this off with the one and only Russell Simmons presenting for Rapstar at the Konami keynote and you have one swaggerlicious event!! Look for Def Jam Rapstar to hit a store near you October 5th!
