Extracurricular Activities with Terminal Reality

“A journey is best measured in friends, rather than miles.”
– Tim Cahill

There is so much to see and do in the Metroplex that it can actually be a bit daunting at first sight. Fear not; you won’t have to conquer this urban playground all by your lonesome. Terminal is a big, friendly family, full of people with wildly different tastes and hobbies. Whatever you’re into, there’s a group here that’s ready, willing, and able to help you make a slice of Dallas your own.

Recreational Hockey

Move to a Southern State, Take Up a Winter Sport

Terminal is located 15 minutes away from two excellent ice rinks. The Dr. Pepper Stars Center in Farmer’s Branch (just South of us) offers recreational hockey every day of the week, year-round, in both the mornings and at lunch. NHL teams occasionally practice there, but the Stars Center is always open to the public. The Polar Ice House in Grapevine Mills is even closer. Both rinks support adult and youth recreational leagues for all skill levels: from instructional “I’ve never played hockey before LOL”, all the way up to former pro. Several people at Terminal play in recreational leagues, and even more are devoted hockey fans of the game.

Recreational Soccer

Did you Know Some People Call Soccer “Footba”—Oh, You’ve Heard That Already?

The game of Association Football, more commonly known as “soccer” or “fútbol,” traces its origins to 1863 in England, when The Football Association drafted the official Laws of the Game. We at Terminal carry on this ancient tradition to this day in our own special way. Many pay their respects to the world’s most popular game every lunch during fair weather days. If the sun is shining, odds are there will always be a pickup group forming.

Racing and Time Trials

We Drive ‘Em Like We Stole ‘Em!

We’re not sure why, exactly, but Terminal Reality attracts an inordinately large number of speed freaks. And people that like to race cars, too. When it comes to the white-knuckle excitement of organized (legal) high-speed driving, Terminal racers have a lot of options. We participate in multiple events every year at Mineral Wells, Pennington Field, and Motor Sport Ranch Cresson; all of these within 80 miles of Terminal offices. Events range from time-trials to autocross, and even drifting. For more information on all the different racing events scheduled in the area, check out the DFW Autocross Calendar.

*We did not actually steal them.

Roller Derby

Old School Sports Entertainment

DFW boasts two Roller Derby leagues:  the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association offers the rowdy action of both the Dallas Derby Devils and Assassination City Roller Derby. The Men don’t have a formal association yet, but that doesn’t stop the Dallas Deception from throwing down. Roller derby is an important community sport, and many players give their time for charity work. A number of Terminal wives and girlfriends, and employees make it a point to go to the events and show our support!

Karaoke

Oh come on, you’re just being like ants at a picnic

Sure, I can see you rolling your eyes at your keyboard. “Every dive bar has a karaoke show,” you likely scoff, “What makes DFW karaoke so special?” The competition, the atmosphere, and the sheer fun. The Metroplex has contributed several finalists to American Idol, including a little lady by the name of Kelly Clarkson who was born in Ft. Worth and won Season One. People here can sing; the competition nights at karaoke are off the charts, with everyone pulling out all the stops and putting on some entertaining performances. Karaoke nights, especially with the gang from Terminal, is guaranteed to be a riot.

Shooting Ranges

Texas and firearms: It May Be TOO Easy

Terminal members frequent three highly recommended ranges within an easy drive of the office, and there are countless more in the region. At the nearby Bass Pro Shops in Grapevine, you’ll find friendly knowledgeable staff at a state-of-the-art indoor range featuring digital targeting distances in seven pistol ranges. If you don’t yet have a firearm but would like to test a few out, try the DFW Gun Range near downtown. They offer a large catalog of rental firearms and all-day passes; if you have ever wanted to fire a fully automatic sub-machine gun, this is the place. When an outdoor range is more appealing, visit the Quail Creek Shooting Range, which features covered, pavilion-style lanes for both pistol and rifle.
