The State Fair of Texas

Since 1886 at Fair Park

Every year Fair Park hosts the State Fair of Texas, a month long celebration of all things Texan. From food to entertainment, the State Fair of Texas is the largest state fair in the United States. Highlights of the fair include the Red River Shootout between the University of Texas at Austin Longhorns and the University of Oklahoma Sooners, deep fried everything, the largest Ferris wheel in North America, and the only fair in the country to include a full automobile show. Plano Balloon Festival

Celebrating the Lost Art of Mankind’s Fledgling Advances in Air Travel

The Plano Balloon Festival is held each and every September. It has been held annually for over 30 years. Drawing crowds in excess of 90,000, the festival is an important fundraiser for many local non-profit organizations. Texas Frightmare Weekend

“They’re Back From the Grave, and Ready to Party!”
- The Return of the Living Dead (1985)

Horror. Zombies. The living dead. Once a year they gather in Dallas and discuss business. Started in 2006, the Texas Frightmare Weekend is a convention which draws gorehound celebrities and fans alike to Dallas to celebrate all things horror. A-Kon

North America’s Longest Running Anime Convention. Not the Rapper from St. Louis.

A-Kon is the oldest continually running, anime-based convention in North America. Celebrating its 21st year in 2010, A-Kon hosts anime fans and guests, and offers items of interest ranging from gaming to independent film, all in the quest to provide the best experience for fans and bring the most engaging, and educational, entertainment to the anime community. Dallas Comic Con

It’s like the San Diego Comic Con, but Without All the Air Travel

The Dallas Comic Con is considered by many as the flagship comic event in Texas. A two-day event held in the Dallas area, the DCC features an exhibitor room with more than 100 tables loaded with comics, posters, cards, movies, t-shirts, and more. Dallas Auto Show

One of the most anticipated annual events in the Metroplex, the Dallas Auto Show is the ideal opportunity for automobile enthusiasts to compare styling and pricing of every major line make and model under one roof in just a few hours. The Dallas Auto Show was first commenced in 1982, and now boasts more than half a million square feet of new cars, trucks and SUVs at the Dallas Convention Center.
